Water, the Jewel of the Okavango Delta and the Victoria Falls

The singing of the cicadas, chirping of the crickets or even the croaking of the frogs are sounds of the African nights. Animals call or clatter across the ground, memories that are not made every day. The wilderness on the edge of the delta, an experience right in the heart of Botswana. Mosi-oa-Tunya, the thunderous smoke can be seen from far. The Victoria Falls are a fascinating natural spectacle that attracts many people from all over the world.

Upon your arrival at the Hosea Kutako International Airport, you will be met by our experienced local tour guide, who will take you to your hotel in Windhoek. After check-in at the accommodation and if time permits, you will be taken on a city tour which is rounded off by a visit to our township, Katutura.

Accommodation/ Breakfast at Safari Court Hotel. Incl. Airport Transfer/ City Tour

From Windhoek we head towards the east, passing Gobabis via Witvlei, into the middle of the ‘Cattle Country’, where most of the cattle are bred. We cross the border post into Botswana and travel across endless bush landscapes via Tshootsha (formerly Kalkfontein) to Ghanzi, where we will arrive at our accommodation. After dinner a small surprise awaits us.

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at Tautona Lodge or similar. Incl. Activity

In the morning we will embark on an early morning San Bushman walk. Later today our destination is Maun. On our way we come across our first Baobab Trees, standing strikingly from the ground. In Maun, an interesting city in a fascinating location that is characterised by a mixture between traditional life and western style, we have the possibility to book an optional flight across the Okavango Delta. This certainly is worth seeing.

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at the Maun Lodge or similar. Incl. Bushman Tracking

After an early breakfast we take the vehicle from a nearby lodge and drive across the slopes of the wilderness. Our destination is a private concession on the banks of the Khwai River at the end of the Moremi Game Reserve. This area is home to elephants, hippos, wild dogs, giraffes, leopards, lions and many other types of game, as well as a wide variety of bird species. For the next few days we will be immersed in the sounds of this incredible place in nature. Game drives and guided hikes are offered in the morning, afternoon and at night.

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at Mogothlo Safari Lodge or similar. Incl. Game Drive

This day, too, will be quite an experience at the edge of the Delta, a world heritage site. All activities are included, such as game drives and hikes.

Accommodation/ Full Board at Mogothlo Safari Lodge or similar. Incl. all activities.

Full of impressions of African nature we return to Maun. From there we make our way to Nata, across Motopi, past the Nxai Pan Park, the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park and via Gweta. In the afternoon we will do a nature drive with a 4×4 vehicle across the surrounding pan area, with a magnificent view into the great distance. In the rainy season, when the pan holds water, this is an important breeding ground for birds.

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at Nata Lodge or similar. Incl. Pan Drive

Our journey goes on and we head north and cross through the Sibuyu Forest Reserve, the Kazuma Forest Reserve and the Kasane Forest Reserve-Extension and reach our destination Kasane. Here we have some time to relax. In the late afternoon we will take a sunset boat cruise on the Chobe River to watch the wildlife. Here, too, the water draws an infinite variety of animals. Hippos, elephants and buffalos are bathing in the river. We can delight in the colourful world of birds.

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at the Chobe Safari Lodge or similar. Incl. Boat Cruise

The morning is spent on a game drive through Chobe National Park with a 4×4 vehicle. We pass through forests, open plains until we reach the river. Baboons, meercats, swamp antelopes, moor antelopes, kudus and waterbucks often roam the riverbank forests. With a bit of luck, we will see some lions and leopards. In the afternoon we will do another boat cruise on the Chobe River. The call of the proud African Fish Eagle is remarkable and can often be heard in these parts.

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at the Chobe Safari Lodge or similar. Incl. Game Drive/ Boat Cruise

Today our trip takes us to the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, via the Kazungula border post. Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders) is what the famous falls are called in the local language. From the Zambezi the water thunders into the long, narrow gorge. We visit the falls and see this natural phenomenon, the spray clouds and rainbows that rise from the valley, with our own eyes. After a short city tour this spectacular day comes to an end.

Accommodation/ Breakfast at A’Zambezi River Lodge or similar. Incl. Visit to Falls

After this magical Botswana and Zimbabwe experience, we say our goodbyes and transfer you to the Victoria Falls Airport.
