Natures Vein of Life

Lined with interesting plants and home to plenty of life forms and drawing different ethnic groups to it, these rivers that run the whole year represent an oasis of life. We enjoy the peace and quiet and the sounds of the African soundscape. Hearing the murmuring water, the calls of the hippos or the African fish eagle are all a true experience. To see people that live with little, but hold a proud tradition and do enjoy a happy life and follow their daily lives.

From the Victoria Falls we pass through a section of the Chobe National Park. At the Ngoma Bridge we enter Namibia. People, herds of cattle, donkeys and chicken can often be seen along the road. Forests of broad-leaved trees line some stretches of the road. We come across small villages and the street vendors try their luck to sell their art or harvest alongside the road. In the afternoon we leave our comfortable accommodation to go on a sundowner boat cruise on the Kwando. The colours of the dipping sun are inexplicable.

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at Namushasha River Lodge or Camp Kwando.

The morning is at leisure. Time to take in all these new sounds and enjoy the endless stillness. In the afternoon a game drive will take us through the Bwawata National Park. A boat transfer across the Kwando takes us into the Bwabwata National Park Here, a 4×4 vehicle will be waiting for us. Keep your eyes open, perhaps we will see herds of buffalos, elephants, waterbucks and other game in the forests or in the open grass plains next to the river. Even lions and leopards can be seen here at times. The drive ends with a boat transfer back to the lodge

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at Namushasha River Lodge or Camp Kwando.

Along the narrow Caprivi Strip our path leads us across the Kwando and Okavango River until we reach our next accommodation, located on the southern banks of this important water bearer – the Okavango. En route we can watch the locals that follow their relatively natural way of life and live in small traditional huts. The afternoon is at leisure.

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at the Nunda River Lodge or Mahangu Safari Lodge.

Today we are going on a 4×4 outing in the Mahango National Park. We spend half of our day driving along the wetlands of the Okavango and keep an eye out for hippos, crocodiles, elephants and swamp antelopes. With a bit of luck, we will come across some sable or roan antelopes. This region offers a fascinating bird life. Monkeys lead their jolly lives in the riparian forests. The afternoon is at leisure. An optional activity is a boat cruise on the Okavango River.

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at the Nunda River Lodge or Mahangu Safari Lodge.

After a short drive we visit the Popa Falls, not really a fall but rapids that rush over the rocks. The river bank vegetation is very interesting. After our stop the road leads us straight to Rundu, a somewhat bigger town. Our destination is a lodge to the west of the town. In the late afternoon we enjoy a boat cruise on the Kavango River (depending on the water levels).

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at Hakusembe River Lodge or Taranga Safari Lodge.

From the water region Namibias our journey leads us through Rundu and Grootfontein until we reach the Hoba Meteorite, an interesting iron meteorite that fell to the earth approximately 80000 years ago. It weights approximately 55tons. Thereafter we will head to the Gabus Game Ranch close to Otavi. Our afternoon is spent on a game drive ending in a sundowner on the lodge premises, whilst we gain some insight into the farm life.

Dinner/ Accommodation/ Breakfast at the Gabus Game Lodge.

Full of impressions of animals and people our journey comes to an end. We drive via Otjiwarongo and Okahandja to Windhoek, the capital. Arrival in the afternoon.
