Vehicles

The vehicle is insured in terms of provisions of the Motor Vehicle Insurance Act for loss and damage to the vehicle and damage to property of third parties but excluding goods and persons conveyed in the vehicle. All Damages have to be paid up to the Excess amount – for self-caused or not self-caused Damages. Glass and tyre damages are not covered.

Reduced excess waiver (REW) excluding glass and tyre damages:

For an additional daily fee the excess amount is reduced. The lessee/driver is liable up to the excess amount for all damages to the vehicle- for self-caused or not self-caused damages, including the damage incurred by others (third party). Glass – and Tyre Damages are not covered.

Super Excess Cover (SEC 1 & 2) including glass and tyre damages:

For a daily fee the excess amount is reduced and liability limited. Next to the reduction of the excess, the insurance includes the glass and tyre insurance, as well as damage by a third party. The lessee/driver is only liable for self-inflicted damage for up to the full excess amount.

This cover can only be taken if the rental period is at least 6 or more days.

Any insurance ceases for damages obtained due to negligence and the lessee/driver will be liable for the full damage amount. The insurance does not cover tow-In costs, water and sandstorm damages or damages to the vehicles undercarriage.

General Rental Terms & Driver Requirements

Minimum Age and Driving License

The minimum age to drive our 4×4 vehicles is 21 years. In addition, the driver must have held a valid driving license for at least two years. To drive in Namibia, an international driving permit (IDP) is strictly required. This permit is only valid in combination with your national driving license (e.g., the German EU driving license) and the original of both documents must be presented at vehicle handover and during police checks.

Additional Drivers

Registering additional drivers is possible and must be done at the time of vehicle pick-up to ensure full insurance coverage for all operators. All drivers must meet the same age and license requirements and must be personally present at handover.

Security Deposit and Payment Methods

A security deposit must be authorized upon vehicle handover. The amount of the deposit depends on your selected insurance option. This deposit will strictly be blocked on a valid credit card (Visa or MasterCard) issued in the name of the primary driver. For insurance reasons, deposits via cash, debit cards, or prepaid credit cards cannot be accepted.

Fuel Policy

Our vehicles are generally handed over to you with a full tank of fuel. The rental vehicle must also be returned with a completely full tank. If the vehicle is not returned fully fuelled, we will charge for the refuelling costs plus a refuelling service fee.

Permitted Driving Areas and Cross-Border Travel

Driving on official tarred roads and well-maintained gravel roads (pads) in Namibia is fully permitted. Driving on rough off-road terrain, deep sand dunes, or salt pans off designated tracks is prohibited and will result in the loss of insurance coverage. Cross-border travel to neighbouring countries such as Botswana or Zimbabwe is only permitted by prior arrangement and with a written Cross-Border Permit issued by Pasjona Safaris & Car Hire cc.
